FAQ
What do we talk about during the consult call?
In our free 15–20 minute call, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, go over logistics like payment and scheduling, and make sure we’d be a good fit. This is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you have. Starting therapy is a big step, and I want to help you feel confident in your choice. If I’m not the right therapist for you, I’ll gladly help you find someone who is.
What are sessions like?
I offer weekly or twice-weekly sessions, in person or via telehealth. Because of how I work, I’m unable to offer bi-weekly or monthly slots. We’ll start with a 60-minute intake, then sessions will be 45–55 minutes for individuals and 50 minutes for couples. While each person and session requires something a bit different, I am generally warm and attentive and strive to create a space where you can show up fully as yourself.
Where is your office?
1140 Broadway, Suite 204
New York, NY 10001
Can I use my insurance?
The group I work for, SelfWorks Therapy Group, is in-network with Aetna, Northwell Direct, and MagnaCare insurances. All other insurance plans, the group will provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
What if I can’t afford sessions?
I offer sliding scale spots based on financial need. If cost is prohibitive, I encourage you to reach out so we can discuss your needs.
What does “pre-licensed” mean?
In New York State, all Mental Health Counseling master’s graduates are required to apply for a permit, receive weekly supervision, accrue hours, and pass the licensure exam before becoming fully licensed. I am currently in this process, meaning I practice under the supervision of a licensed professional (see more on my “about me” page). This does not change much on your end as someone in therapy with me. In fact, those I work with have commented on how it’s re-assuring to know I am receiving guidance weekly, meaning I’m constantly learning and engaged in the work - you can read more in this article I contributed to about the not-so-obvious benefits of working with pre-licensed therapists.
